Investigative Due Diligence

Beyond what is recorded. Toward what matters.

A database can tell you what is recorded. An investigation asks whether the available facts support the decision you are being asked to make.

Screening is an input, not the investigation.

A registry check answers a corporate-record question. KYC establishes identity and other information within a defined compliance process. Background screening searches a specified set of records. Each can be useful, but none automatically tests the commercial narrative behind a complex decision.

Investigative due diligence combines those inputs with question-led research, relationship mapping, documentary comparison and analysis. A result is not treated as complete merely because the searches returned no matches.

Start with the exposure.

An investment, financing, partnership, acquisition, supplier relationship or executive appointment raises different verification questions. We identify the claims that underpin the commitment, the consequences of an incorrect assumption and the evidence that is realistically available.

Relevant companies, people, ownership structures, related entities and counterparties may be investigated across jurisdictions. The Brazil connection can be one material layer of a much larger matter.

Connect records, relationships and claims.

Public litigation, sanctions, adverse media, corporate records, operational indicators and client-provided documents are cross-analyzed. Source reliability, recency, identity matching and contradictory evidence are part of the assessment.

The report distinguishes a documented fact from an inference and a missing record from a negative finding. If the available evidence does not resolve a question, that limitation remains visible.

An assessment proportionate to the decision.

The scope may be focused on a single unresolved claim or extend to a broader corporate and individual review. We agree the questions, jurisdictions, source boundaries, contact permissions and reporting needs before work begins.

The deliverable is designed to support the client and advisors, not to replace legal, accounting, technical, credit or investment judgments. No outcome or future performance is guaranteed.
